Crafted with inspiration

My name is Finula Coughlan, and throughout the years, I have been inspired to create jewellery by Ireland's varied history, which is full of artistic expression and symbolism. From the ancient carvings in Newgrange to the exquisite Book of Kells, myth and legend, such as the Children of Lir, and Irish symbols like the Claddagh, Trinity Knot, Shamrock, and Harp, are integral parts of Irish identity.

Artistry & Journey

I began my artistic journey studying the craft of metalwork full time in a third-level Art college. Graduating from there, I diversified and gained employment at Sullivan Bluth animation studio in Dublin, contributing to animated classics like "An American Tale," "All Dogs Go to Heaven," and "Thumbelina." This experience proved extremely beneficial to me in my design work and acted as a perfect stepping stone in my career as a young artist.

Returning to live in my native Donegal, I established my own business and have been designing and making original Celtic jewellery ever since. It has been a remarkable journey. Each passing year has expanded my range of jewellery to include contemporary designs and collections inspired by the landscape that surrounds me—distinctly Donegal.

CONNECTING THROUGH StoRies

The path of the creative artist is always evolving, with each encounter and experience filtering through into the work. Having had the privilege of meeting visitors to my workshop in Donegal Town, I have been deeply moved by their stories, which have added emotional significance to my jewellery. These encounters have inspired my latest collection, which is entirely based on the tales of Irish immigration, shared by visitors with Irish roots returning to their ancestral home in search of their origins.
