Newgrange Collection

Newgrange Collection Newgrange in the Boyne Valley is a 5’200-year-old Passage Tomb famous for the spectacular winter sun illumination on the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice. This spiritual place is full of mystery and symbolism. The stone mound was built by the ancients with mathematical precision to allow the passage and chamber inside to fill with light from the sun just once a year. It is thought to have assisted the souls of their loved ones buried inside transcend to the afterlife. The carvings on the entrance stone at Newgrange and inside are almost exclusively spiral. The single spiral epitomises growth in all its forms and the simple triple spiral design called the triskele symbolises the three elements of human existence, birth, life and rebirth. These carvings represent the values that have defined the ancient culture of Ireland and the Celts. Through the passage of time, the Triskele has become a treasured symbol of the essence of Ireland and this collection has the spiral at its core.
